Hiya! I’m Kirstee.
I’m a mama with a passion for creative and holistic home education. I have fallen in love with the magic of Waldorf-inspired education and I want to help you bring this wonderful way of living and learning to your family too.
I want to help other mamas who may be attracted to this way of educating, but feeling overwhelmed or put off by some of the more unusual aspects. You can make this work for you! I don’t want you and your children to miss out because there are elements that just aren’t for you. And I don’t want you to feel afraid of changing it up, or adding in bits and pieces from elsewhere, to create an education that fits just right. You can make this work within your own unique family culture. And you can count on me to help you do that 🙂
I live just north of Brisbane, Australia, right between the mountains and the sea, in a quiet little home with my husband and two children. My home is full of love, books and sometimes a few dirty bootprints 😉 We spend our mornings gathered around the kitchen table, learning all kinds of interesting things, taking breaks to get grubby in the garden or to play with our friends. In the afternoons, while the little one takes a nap and her big brother is hidden away with a book, I sit down to share what I have learnt with you.
While there is plenty here to help you on your way, you can also find me about the web. Early this year I had the honour of being asked to present a workshop on Getting Started with Waldorf-Inspired Homeschooling at the 2017 Australian Homeschool Summit. I’ve already got another speaking engagement lined up so make sure you subscribe to catch the details of that once it goes public! You can also find me as a regular contributor for Mulberry Magazine (now Mulberry Journal) and previously for Kid Magazine too.
How We Got Here
When I was a child my family moved all over the country. We lived in big cities and small country towns. We moved a lot which meant a lot of new schools. This helped me learn early on that there is not one right way and order to learn. It also taught me that family comes before everything.
Fast forward a decade or two and I found myself a mama of 2 littles, and while we stayed put, my hard-working husband was flying off all over the country for work. FIFO life meant the time spent together was even more precious. And we weren’t going to waste the time on school. Which is how we found ourselves pulling our son out of school and starting out on our homeschool adventure.
And it is definitely an adventure worth having! Home educating is the best thing that has happened to our family and now I want to share my knowledge and experience with you so that you can find the same joy.
Whether you have little kids or big kids, you homeschool or send your kids to school, there are plenty of opportunities for learning at home. And everyone can turn their home into a peaceful haven where learning is encouraged and valued. Helping this happen is where I come in!
I am so happy to have you as part of this community. Don’t forget to subscribe and stay in touch. I can’t wait to get to know you and your family. I’m excited we’re going to be great friends
